The Church (Linda D)

The Church is Not Closed, It’s Deployed
Verse for today
9  Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is
good.  10  Love each other with genuine affection, [e]  and take delight in honoring each
other.  11  Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. [f]   12  Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.  13  When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Romans 12:9-13 NLT

So much talk today about being essential. Stores are essential, work is essential, churches are
essential. I’ve constantly been told that the church is the people not the building and I agree
with this statement. We the church need to do what we’ve been trained to do.

We are essential front line works and our pastor is at the front of our front line.
- We need to be prepared – read The Word, watch online sermons
- We need to rest and rejuvenate – listen to worship music, talk to God
- We need to encourage each other and build each other up. Call a friend, write a note
let them know you care
- We need to help people who can’t help themselves – groceries, errands etc. Be Jesus
hands and feet
So today let us, the deployed - Love God, Love People, Love His Word – do whatever it is God
has asked you to do today to help those that need you.

Prayer for today
Dear Lord, Help us to be Your hands and feet today and everyday. Guide us in the steps
you’d like us to take. In your strength we can do this. Amen
