What Town Was That Again ?
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall
be [c] witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 NKJV
3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”
They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and [a] immediately got into the
boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Then Jesus said to them, “Children, have you any food?” They answered Him, “No.”
John 21:1-3
I am doing a small Bible course on geography in the Bible. I’ve just begun, but it has me looking at the town, the landscape, the tools used, the weather, how people related to it all and just how important a role it has become in the Bible. It’s so interesting, I had to share.
What if the Bible took place in North America, Jerusalem were Toronto? What if Moses wandered 40 years across Newfoundland and ate cod instead of manna? What if the dead sea were Lake Erie? What if the disciples were farmers in Essex County instead of fisherman? It would bring the Bible more to life because we know these places and we know about the people of these places.
I encourage you to learn more about Jerusalem, Nazareth, Rome. What was the weather like, what were the people like, what did they do, what were the customs?
Dear Jesus, thank you for the Bible, thank you for tools to learn more about Bible times. Help us to study the Bible and study about the time, places and people of the Bible. Amen
