Good Saturday
5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who
was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he
lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of
you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” Matthew 28:5-7 NIV
Jesus died on that famous Friday. What happened next? What happened on Saturday? Were
people expectant for Sunday as we are today? Were they grieving Jesus? Did they now think
He was a fake? Nobody believed He’d rise again on Sunday. That must have been an awful
Saturday as people woke up the day after the crucifixion wondering just what had happened
and what to do next.
How often do we feel down, that nothing is working as it should. Wondering just where God is.
Why is He not with you. Why are you in your current circumstance? Let me encourage you
to stick with Jesus, He’s always with you and His timing is perfect, He’s waiting to hear from
you. He has a plan but He may want you to go through the experience with Him so you can
learn and strengthen your faith. Once you have gone through your valley you will truly be
thankful for Sunday and enjoy your personal victory just as Jesus arose victorious on that
Sunday so many years ago.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for coming at Christmas to be our mentor, thank you for dying on Good Friday as our Saviour and rising on Easter Sunday to show you are God and complete your prophecy. Thank you for always being there when we need you. Help me to appreciate You and turn to you constantly. Amen
