Honour Your Mom

16  ‘Honor your father and your mother, just as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well for you on the land which the LORD your God is giving you. Deuteronomy 5:16 NASB

Moses is speaking to the Israelites reminding them of the covenant between them and God, the
10 commandments. There is a purpose for each of the commandments. This
commandment to honour your mother and father is important, this is because parents are
smart, they’ve already made many mistakes and hopefully learned from them. God gave you
these people to help you get through your days.

I know mother’s day is over but it’s never too late to honour your mom. Mom’s are smart, they
know things, they want to help you. My mother only had a grade 4 or 5 education but she was
analytical, could make or fix just about anything, knew when to stand up for a cause and when
to let it go. And was fluent in 2 ½ languages. Her mother tongue Schwabish (which is a
german dialect), German (that was in papers, books, news etcetera) and English. Never,
ever underestimate your mom, or your mom’s mom.

I want to encourage you
 When you are having a hard day, tell your mom.
 When you don’t know what to do, ask your mom.
 When you need a friend, there’s mom
 When you don’t know how to do something, ask your mom
 When you don’t understand what something means, go to your mom
 When life doesn’t make sense, chat with your mom
 When you need to tell a secret, tell your mom (she may already know)
 No matter if you are 4 or 40 or 80+, you always need your mom
 Some how, some way, as the years go by you will turn into the best parts of your mom
this is how the best information travels from generation to generation.

God gave you this wonderful lady, honour her, love her, pray for her and thank God you have
her.

Dear Jesus,
Thank you for mom’s . Comfort those who no longer have a mom and bless all the women
who are moms. Help mom’s to do what it right and help us to honour our moms. Amen
